Gelar budaya keraton di Bangsal Pagelaran Keraton Kasepuhan Cirebon

In this article I would like to share an experience of following an event that held in Kasepuhan Palace Cirebon in December 5, 2012. The event name was "Gelar Budaya Keraton" or in english is Cultural Place Performance. It is named so, because this Gelar Budaya event aimed on rebuilding Cirebon people awareness and creativity on traditional culture that could attract many domestic and international tourists as an outcome. 

This event held by the collaboration of 4 palaces in Cirebon (Kasepuhan, Kacirebonan, Kanoman and Keprabonan) along with Ministry of Creative Economy Coordinator. This event did not only perform Traditional culture (like traditional dance and Wayang Kulit), but also an exhibition of Cirebon photography, handicraft (Batik, craft shells, rattan and so on), traditional food as well (Nasi Jamblang, Tahu Gejrot, Empal Gentong, Docang etc.) Beside cultural exhibition, the discussion about traditional culture also done.

During this event, I was taking a role as Gamelan player (Traditional music from Java, contained Goong, Saron, Kendang, Bonang, Penerus, Kenong and so on). Several gamelan instruments were played before the event started. 

Tari Topeng Panji Performance

 One of cultural performances showed in the noon by presenting Tari Topeng Panji (Panji mask dance). Then at the end of event, there is a Wayang Kulit performance that held a whole night.
